Our mission is to connect innovation, evidence, and practice to accelerate responsible digital transformation in healthcare.
We do this by developing collaborative platforms, supporting standards and governance frameworks, advancing public policy dialogue, and enabling interdisciplinary initiatives that bring together clinicians, technologists, researchers, policymakers, and innovators.
Through these activities, we help translate emerging technologies—including artificial intelligence and advanced data systems—into trusted solutions that improve healthcare delivery, public health resilience, and patient outcomes.
We envision a future where healthcare moves beyond reacting to disease and instead anticipates and prevents it.
Artificial intelligence and digital innovation make it possible to transform health systems from reactive models of care to predictive, preventive, and proactive approaches that improve outcomes while strengthening resilience and equity.
Our vision is a world where communities, clinicians, innovators, and policymakers collaborate to harness digital technologies responsibly—creating health systems that act earlier, learn continuously, and deliver better health for all.
The Global Health & Digital Innovation Foundation (GHDIF) exists to advance health, education, and scientific research for the public benefit by promoting responsible innovation in digital health, health data systems, and artificial intelligence.
Healthcare systems worldwide face growing challenges, including rising disease burdens, ageing populations, workforce pressures, and environmental change. At the same time, advances in digital technologies and artificial intelligence are creating new opportunities to improve health outcomes, strengthen health systems, and expand equitable access to care.
GHDIF supports research, education, collaboration, and the development of open standards and governance frameworks that enable responsible digital innovation in healthcare. Through these activities, we help ensure that emerging technologies are developed and deployed safely, ethically, and in ways that benefit patients, healthcare professionals, researchers, innovators, and communities worldwide.
Our work aims to ensure that digital innovation contributes to more equitable, resilient, and sustainable health systems, while supporting scientific progress and the responsible use of data and artificial intelligence for the public good.
The beneficiaries of our work include:
GHDIF’s activities are designed to benefit society broadly and are not restricted to any specific private group.
The Global Health & Digital Innovation Foundation (GHDIF) advances science and research in digital health, artificial intelligence, and health data systems. It undertakes and supports research into the development, evaluation, and responsible implementation of new technologies that can improve patient care, public health, and health system performance.
The results of this research are disseminated publicly through publications, reports, conferences, and open educational resources so that healthcare professionals, policymakers, and researchers can benefit from the knowledge generated.
By making the findings of research widely accessible, GHDIF contributes to improved understanding of how emerging technologies can be used safely and effectively to improve health outcomes.
GHDIF promotes education in the fields of digital health, health data governance, and artificial intelligence in healthcare. This includes organising workshops, seminars, conferences, and training activities aimed at healthcare professionals, researchers, policymakers, and the wider public.
Through these activities, GHDIF helps build the skills and knowledge required to support the responsible use of new technologies in healthcare and public health systems.
Educational resources developed by GHDIF are made publicly available wherever possible, supporting wider learning and capacity building.
Many of the most pressing challenges in health and public health require collaboration between governments, academia, civil society, and industry.
GHDIF promotes collaboration by convening stakeholders and facilitating dialogue on responsible innovation in health technologies.
These activities help identify best practices, address emerging risks, and promote the adoption of approaches that improve healthcare delivery and health system resilience.
A key focus of GHDIF’s work is improving access to healthcare innovation for underserved and vulnerable populations. We support initiatives that promote equitable access to AI and digital health tools, improved health information systems, and better use of health data to inform public health interventions.
By promoting approaches that support inclusion and equitable access, GHDIF helps ensure that the benefits of technological innovation contribute to improved health outcomes across populations.
GHDIF contributes to the development of ethical and governance frameworks that support safe and responsible innovation in healthcare technologies. This includes supporting the development of standards, guidance, and best practices that help ensure that emerging technologies are used in ways that protect patient safety, privacy, and public trust.
Such frameworks support the effective and responsible adoption of innovation in health systems, thereby benefiting the public through safer and more reliable healthcare technologies.
The Global Health & Digital Innovation Foundation (GHDIF) is an independent non-profit advancing digital health, artificial intelligence, and innovation to improve access, equity, and health outcomes worldwide.
We work with communities, health systems, and innovators to harness technology responsibly—turning data and emerging technologies into safer, more inclusive, and more effective healthcare solutions.
Our work is supported by a global network of clinicians, researchers, technologists, and policy experts who contribute their knowledge and experience to help advance responsible innovation in digital health and artificial intelligence.
Together, this community brings multidisciplinary expertise across healthcare, data science, public policy, and technology development, helping guide GHDIF’s programmes and initiatives as we work toward more equitable, anticipatory, and resilient health systems.
